Bookbot is a recommerce platform that operates in 9 countries, ships books to 40 countries and has already sold over 10 million books. Every day we sell around 25 000 books and receive a little bit more. As Bookbot grows, so do our systems and the mix of digital tools we use.
However, not all solutions are effective, and there is often unnecessary duplication. We also rely on third parties for certain automation tasks, which are unnecessarily expensive and not very customizable.
That's why we've decided to join forces with a skilled AI Engineer who will use their own solutions and the proposed technologies to streamline our automation, eliminate duplication, automate manual tasks, and point out other weaknesses that they can optimize with their skills.
You will have important responsibilities for:
- Optimizing the costs of operational processes
- Selecting the technologies needed to solve technical tasks
How you can help us the most right now:
- Automating the assignment of books to their records in the internal catalog immediately after they are photographed
- Automatically creating records in the catalog based on metadata from OCR and external sources
- Optimizing and automating recommendations based on user interests and available data about their history and semantic links between books
- Automating the resolution of duplicate book authors in the database and merging them under one title
You should have excellent command of:
- Data Analysis, Data Science
- Python
- Machine Learning (ML)
Specific technological domains (the more you know, the better):
- Digital Image Processing
- LLM/MLLM and their APIs
- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Learn to rank

- Ability to solve end-to-end problems, including delivering complete software solutions.
- Independence, organization, and a business-driven approach.
- You will set your own priorities and project timelines, both long and short term.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- We expect you to know this domain better than we do and bring your know-how to us. You will decide which technologies to use and be able to work independently. However, you will work closely with our CTO David Gazdoš.
